About
Sophie Sultan is a violinist and teacher. After completing preparatory classes in literature (hypokhâgne and khâgne), she studied musicology at the Sorbonne and entered the Paris Conservatory (CNSMDP) in 2005, where she studied violin with Olivier Charlier and Joanna Matkowska. She graduated with a Master’s degree in violin in 2010, followed in 2012 by a Master’s degree in pedagogy and the national teaching certificate for violin. She has taught since 2012, first at the Argenteuil Conservatory (CRD), and currently at the Maurice Ravel Conservatory in Paris (CMA 13).
Her research focuses on diverse topics, including musicological writings published during the Occupation, the history of the pochette (pocket violin), a biography of the French violinist Devy Erlih, and the history of violin classes at the Paris Conservatory.
